Panchgani Tableland is a lateritic plateau in the Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani Eco-sensitive Zone and is also a ‘Natural Heritage Site’. Lateritic rock outcrops are threatened “habitat complexes” that has edaphically controlled plant and animal communities which cannot thrive elsewhere. This project is aimed at assessing the current population status of threatened plant species and to develop a conservation plan for the habitat at Tableland, Panchgani dist. Satara, Maharashtra.
