Wild Edible Plants: Documentation and Assessment of Nutritional Quality

This project documented the diversity and nutritional qualities of Wild Edible Plants at Shilimb, Ajeevali and surrounding areas, located in the northern Western Ghats (NWGs) of Maharashtra.

Wild Edible Plants (WEPs) have been traditionally used as a source of subsistence, mainly by rural communities. These plants are getting wiped out because of habitat destruction and changing trends in agriculture. This study also identifies some potential candidate species that can be further taken up for popularization, cultivation and commercialization.
